Combat Climb

Outline:

Combat Climb is a project designed to empower service men and women with confidence and self esteem. We use climbing as activity therapy engaging individuals in a challenging physical experience that helps then build the mental mechanisms to cope with everyday life.

Key elements:

Personal value: developing a sense of self worth and self esteem through building confidence and encouraging participation.

Personal Achievement: developing an 'I can' attitude through setting and achieving personal goals, gaining qualifications and overcoming problems.

Social Inclusion: developing confident communication skills, encouraging others and being encouraged, enjoying time with others.

The programme:

Our programme is tailored to each individual allowing them to get the most from the activities we offer. The programme includes indoor climbing, abseiling and bouldering and can develop to include outdoor crag days. We also offer a pathway to employment for men and women interested a career in the outdoor industry. The programme includes nationally recognised qualifications in climbing, an instructors award and mountain rescue first aid for those wanting to take climbing further.

As part of the programme or as a separate activity we can also organise our Mt Everest Challenge. This is a 29,343ft indoor climb where everyone can work as a team to achieve the goal or work in teams to race up the mountain.
